HOW TO STAY FIT IN QUARANTINE

GET THE KIDS INVOLVED

With your kids at home all day, they can either keep you from working out, or they can be part of the fun! Working out with kids is super fun, so get them involved! It’s not an intense workout but moving feels good and they really enjoy it. My kids often do yoga with me. They’re not into it 100% of the time, so I don’t push it, but I strongly encourage it and offer rewards.

VIRTUAL CLASSES ARE A LIFE SAVER

Seriously, this is a life changer! I love my usual workouts with Yoga 2.0 and Lift, who are both offering amazing quarantine programs. My Ashtanga yoga teacher Alexia is also offering amazing online programs. I am always getting asked about my practice, so now is the perfect time to try it out and support our teachers and your inner self.

TIME TO TRY A NEW WORKOUT

Staying inside all day can be super hard, but you know I always find the positive in things. Staying home is an opportunity! Think of all the cool workouts you always thought about doing but just never did–well now’s the time to try them! I’m really enjoying finally trying new workouts like Zumba, and even getting Jason to join in on my Zumba fun.

FOLLOW FABULOUS BLOGGERS

Everyone (yes, even me) gets tired and needs inspiration to get motivated. As someone who looooves social media, there’s no better way to do it than following amazing fitness bloggers. @bun_undone, @Carlajian, @melisfit_, @nicolekayfitness, @katelemere, @alexiabauerl, and of course my amazing sister @orlyfitness are my absolute favorites to follow.

START YOUR DAY OFF STRONG

I’ve learned that it’s best to work out first thing in the morning before my kids get up and my day really starts. This way my workout is my time to really take care of my body and mind (we can’t forget about self care during quarantine!) AND, I can get my workout over with. It helps me get pumped up as soon as I wake up, and start my day off stronger.

THE SECRET TO MY WEIGHT LOSS

Once I realized that I had started gaining weight during quarantine, I knew what to do. I do intermittent fasting at least 3–4 days a week, which means that I stop eating around 7 until noon or later the next day. It’s what I always turn to for weight loss, and it really helped me to shed those extra pounds I gained in the first week.

HOW TO EAT HEALTHY AND EAT WITH YOUR FAMILY

Eating healthy: easy to say, much harder to do! But if you break it down, it’s all about balancing your eating so that you can get the nutrients you need, but also eat the delicious food you love. I try to eat really clean and healthy meals for breakfast and lunch on weekdays. For lunch I usually have a big salad with boiled eggs. For dinner, I always eat whatever Jason makes. It’s not always healthy, but portion control is the key.

FITNESS IN A CUTE ‘FIT

I’m gonna let you in on a secret–I never actually want to work out! Let’s face it, staying fit is hard work. It’s not always the most fun thing but it’s absolutely essential, so I like to find the little things that make it enjoyable. And, you know me, a cute outfit can light up every experience. MOVE TO THE MUSIC

Ok, so, you’ve looked at your fabulous fitness blogs, woken up early, and gotten all the motivation to work out. But sometimes when you’re in the middle of all those crunches or band exercises, you start to get tired and need a little push to keep going. That’s why I love to listen to music while I work out. With the right beat you can get all the motivation back to keep moving towards your goals.
